ViXL guide / browser workflow

Understand Scenes, Compositions and Cues

Reviewed 28 October 2026 · Availability varies by release and channel.

In the intended ViXL model, a Scene saves the settings of one App instance. A Composition arranges Scenes in persistent named layers to define a visual state. A Cue pins a Composition reference and adds transition and timing behavior; it does not target a Scene directly.

This is a model overview. Authoring controls vary by release and channel; use the controls shown in your version. The scoped Type 0.4.0 public testing check established installation through a rendered Scene, not qualification of the complete customer Composition and Cue workflow.

Next steps

  1. Identify the runtime channel and version before following authoring instructions.
  2. Use the available tools to explore a configured App and its Scene. In the intended model, that Scene belongs in a named Composition layer.
  3. Where your release offers Composition and Cue authoring, check that a Cue references the intended Composition and rehearse preparation before GO.
Conceptual guidance: exact authoring and show-control behavior requires evidence for your runtime release. Customer and public testing interfaces differ.
