ViXL guide / browser workflow

Prepare, READY and GO

Reviewed 28 October 2026 · Availability varies by release and channel.

In the required ViXL model, Program is the live show state. Selecting a Cue and preparing its Composition target are separate from taking that target live. READY means required loading and warming are complete. These definitions do not certify every runtime release.

Required preparation proceeds through UNLOADED, LOADING and WARMING to READY. ERROR is a failed-preparation branch, not a normal step after READY. Where a release offers Auto Take, it must still wait for required readiness. Investigate failed or incomplete preparation before a take.

Where your release offers Blackout and Restore, rehearse those deliberate controls with the browser output you will use. Check what the display shows before, during and after each action; a control label alone does not establish physical-output readiness.

Next steps

  1. Identify your exact release and the preparation controls it offers before rehearsal.
  2. Where available, select the intended Composition Cue, prepare its target and inspect the target preview without changing Program.
  3. Use GO only when required readiness is complete and you intend the change. Check Program and the browser output actually used.
  4. Where offered, rehearse Blackout and Restore. Investigate errors before taking another target.
